Private water companies are trying to scoop up our public water systems. If they succeed, we could be looking at higher prices, less accountability, and worse water quality, like other municipalities across the country that have gone the route of water privatization.

But Pennsylvania House Bill 2597 would mandate a ratepayer referendum for almost all municipal water system sales. This means a potential sale would have to pass a vote by ratepayers before going through. We would be able to protect our water systems with people power!

Right now, our state representatives need to ensure that HB 2597 becomes law so that we can continue fighting back against privatized water. When we hand over control of public water to private corporations, we limit our tools to protect our critical water systems.

Urge your state representative to protect our water and sign on as a cosponsor to HB 2597 today!
