Protect Chaco Canyon!

Protect Chaco Canyon!

The Bureau of Land Management is considering a lease sale of even more land close to Chaco Canyon for potential oil and gas drilling.

Drilling activity in this area would destroy a sacred place that holds incredible importance to the indigenous communities in the region. It also threatens vital resources critical to the surrounding community, endangering their health and well-being.

We need to pressure the Bureau of Land Management to protect this unique region and to protect the surrounding communities and their natural and cultural resources.

Use the form below to sign the petition and help protect Chaco Canyon.

Sign the Petition:

I implore you to put a stop to the proposed lease sale near Chaco Canyon in March 2019. Fossil fuel exploration on these sites is a threat to the people who live on the surrounding land and to Chaco Canyon, New Mexico's crown jewel and the ancestral home of Native Americans of the Southwest.

Protection from oil and gas activity around Chaco Canyon is essential to protecting New Mexico’s unique history, environment and vital resources. Moving toward a just transition to renewable energy increases the ability for communities dealing with these issues to create ways to engage in environmentally sustainable, as well as culturally appropriate, economic development.

I ask you to cancel the lease sale and protect Chaco Canyon from oil and gas activities that could destroy this designated World Heritage Site, a landmark like no other on Earth.
