Republicans are trying to pass a package of bills (Energize PA) that would subsidize the fracking industry and block environmental regulators from protecting us from pollution.

The worst of these is HB1100, the Ethane Cracker Handout bill, which would hand out nearly $1 billion in subsidies to corporations that build polluting ethane crackers, which take in fracked gas and produce disposable plastics, in the process spewing out pollution. In the face of climate crisis, we must be transitioning away from fossil fuels, not subsidizing them.

The other bills we're fighting would:
  • Support the natural gas and petrochemical industries
  • Require the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to approve permits within 30 days of filing
  • Strip DEP's authority to review permit applications and issue permits
  • Create a tax credit incentivizing more ethane crackers

Urge your state senator to oppose these bills!

Your Message
Dear legislators,

Please oppose HB1100. Please also vote against HB1102, HB1106 and HB1107. These bills either subsidize corporate polluters or strip away environmental protections, and therefore work against the interests of Pennsylvanians.

Sincerely,
