Cities are major contributors to climate change. 78 percent of the world's energy is used in cities, and they produce more than 60 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. But they're also vulnerable to the risks of climate change, including floods, rising sea levels, extreme storms, heatwaves and water shortages.
That's why Representatives Cori Bush and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced the Green New Deal for Cities Act of 2021. This legislation would provide $1 trillion in funding to local, state, tribal and territorial governments to help address the climate crisis and create jobs in the process..
Send a message to your representative asking them to help fight climate change by co-sponsoring the Green New Deal for Cities Act (HR 2644).
